A lifeline to Zandspruit shack fire victims
Dithuphe Foundation recently partnered with Jehosopath Foundation to assist 14 Zandspruit families who lost property in a shack fire.
The fire which gutted the shacks on 23 August left 14 families homeless and without food. The families have been facing challenges after they lost their belongings, said Dithupe Foundation marketing director Abraham Malinga.
“We then decided to chip in to help them,” he said. “It is very important to help those who are in need, especially during this hard period of COVID-19. Most of them are not working, and it is difficult for them to survive. Every day we go to check on them, talk to them and give them something to eat. We also make sure that they are sorted in terms of shelter.”
The two foundations (Dithupe and Jehosopath) have also donated clothes to the victims. “We also gave away school shoes and sanitary towels.
“We are asking for business people and other stakeholders to come on board to assist the families. Our aim as an NPO is to assist the families until they are settled and back to their normal lives.”
