An awareness on Substance Abuse

Diepsloot police in partnership with South African National Council on Alcoholism (SANCA), South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG), Lawyers Against Abuse, Department of Social Development and other local stakeholders recently converged in Diepsloot extension 13 to raise an awareness among young people about the dangers of substance.

The stakeholders shared valuable information with the community in an effort to address the problems of substance abuse among young people.

“The community, particularly young people, was sensitized about substance abuse,” said Diepsloot police spokesperson Captain Tinyiko Mathebula. “They were given information on places they should go to for help when they experience this problem.”

The police pleaded with the community to report those who are selling drugs or are involved in any illegal activities by contacting crime stop number on 08600 10111 or by contacting the local police. The police further urged the community to continue partnering with the police by playing an active role in the fight against crime.
