For the first time, on 9 May 2018, Buhle health club awarded its eight patrons with certificates of appreciation for community support, after the sponsors successfully participated in building awareness of the importance of health and fitness. The event was held at Multipurpose.
The sponsors of the event were Chicken Licken, Cell Tone, Romans Pizza, Shell Garage, Deep Side Graphics, Boys and Girls Youth Africa, Cosmo FM and Roots Butchery.
The awards came after the stakeholders successfully participated in the marking of a sports and fun day on 21 April 2018.
Speaking during the ceremony, Buhle health club director Vusi Maduna said the stakeholders always play important role in community development.
“The award ceremony was a success, and we are all happy because we will continue honouring supportive patrons on a yearly basis. We really appreciate the stakeholders for their incredible and moral support. We also want to express our sincere thanks to all community members who make Cosmo City viable,” he said.
He added that with the support of the stakeholders, Buhle Health Club would be positioned at a national level.
In an interview with Cosmo City Chronicle, the representatives of the award winning sponsors expressed their pleasure on getting involved in community development.
Fathima Anod, a representative from Chicken Licken (Cosmo Mall), said it is a social responsibility to give back to the community.
“On a personal level, we are feeling great. All staff was thrilled and excited to be awarded in serving the community. As for Chicken Licken Cosmo Mall, it gives us good mileage for commercial purposes to attract new customers and retain our existing ones. We were willing to participate in this initiative to promote a Healthy Lifestyle and at the same time, it gave us an opportunity to showcase our “juicy, tender fried
Chicken” brand. We were motivated by the mutual benefits for the organisers, stakeholders and especially the community at large,” she said.
A Cell Tone representative, Louisa Nhlapo, said she is humbled to be awarded for community support.
“I feel great because I didn’t expect to get anything for supporting the community. Last year, when we attended the Cosmo City Spring Festival at the Mall, Vusi the Buhle Health Club director visited our Exhibitors table. He gave me a verbal proposal, and it was a good initiative so we gave each other details. That’s how I came to be involved in the community,” she said.
Louisa said Cell Tone’s motivation behind giving to the community was to support the awareness of good health.
“The overwhelming support that we get from our clients makes us motivated to give to the community. But we mainly partake in the community to support the awareness of good health that goes hand in hand with skin care, and that is why our slogan is “be good to your skin, as part of good health”.
Philip van Heerden from Romans Pizza Cosmo City said he is thankful to be part of the community and to be able to make a difference.
“When we were approached by Buhle health club, we immediately accepted and asked Vusi how we can be of assistance in order to make the difference in the community. Together we can make a difference in the community. Each one’s contribution, no matter how small it is, makes great things possible,” said van Heerden.
Muzi Sithole, from Cosmo City Shell garage said it is his calling to support the community.
“As an entrepreneur, I need to come to terms with the fact that we all need support, and to surround ourselves with our community. I am inspired by God to give for the community. It’s a privilege and honour to be part of the community,” he said.
All the patrons were adamant that more companies should partner with the community.
