Block Party held as community ushers into festive season
After School is Lit teamed up with Bukamusa Netball Club in this year’s annual block party to bring school children together for entertainment on 30 November at Cosmo City’s Morocco Street in extension 2.
Young children and youth attended the event alongside community members. Local artists and netball tournament kept the audience celebrating and captivated.
“We are trying to unite the community and keep children occupied,” said Sfisokuhle Mkhwananzi popularly known as Scima, who organised the event.
It is always nice to get the young ones excited especially during the festive season, he said. “Such events vents are very significant in the community. We did something that the people of the community had never experienced and everyone now wants more of those kinds of events.”
He said he was happy that the event was a success even though there were challenges.
“I would like to thank everyone who gave us support especially my fans and family. I am happy that there were no injuries reported. We had street netball tournament in which 6 teams participated. We also had DJs and dancers to entertain the crowd. Our aim is to give back to the community. ”
