Maisha appointed as interim Ward 100 councillor
ANC’s Ward 96 Proportional Representative (PR) Councillor Patrick Maisha has been appointed acting Ward 100 councillor.
The experienced councillor temporarily replaces Mapula Mosito, who is currently on leave. The Ward has been without a councillor since mid-October.
This is the second time Cllr Maisha has served as acting Ward 100 councillor. He played the same role for three months in 2014, replacing the then Ward Councillor Noni Rapatha. This time around, Maisha is expected to be in the councillor’s office for three to four months until Cllr Mosito comes back.
“I am a Cosmo City resident so I know the community very well,” he said. “The goal is to keep the community getting proper service delivery until Cllr Mapula returns from her leave.
So far I have done consultation meetings with the Ward Committee. Most of the issues affecting our community are to do with service delivery. Within four days in the office, I had dealt with five sewer blockages.”
Cllr Maisha joined the municipality in 2011 as a PR councillor deployed by the ANC. “Having held the caretaker Ward Councillor role before,” he said, “I think ANC believes that I am a tried and tested councillor, hence they deployed me to this Ward. I am ever ready and I have to hit the ground running.”
Maisha will be introduced to the community members in a public meeting on 9 November at Multipurpose Centre.
