Murder accused appear in court
A 49-year-old Diepsloot man recently appeared in Randburg Magistrate Court facing charges of murder.
Delisile Dubazana is accused of assaulting a 28-year-old man for allegedly stealing drugs from his shack, according to Diepsloot police spokesperson Captain Tinyiko Mathebula.
“It is alleged that on Friday night, 12 November 2021, Dubazana and two other male suspects, one believed to be her son, assaulted a 28-year-old male victim in extension 1, accusing him of stealing their drugs with estimated street value of R1300,” the captain reported.
Eyewitnesses, who had gone to buy drugs at the suspects' shack, allege that they saw the deceased tied with rope being assaulted with bricks and bottles,” Captain Mathebula continued. “They were later chased away and allegedly left the victim still alive,” he said.
“On Saturday morning, the victim's dead body was found dumped at an open space in extension 1,” he said. “One suspect has been arrested and charged with murder while two other accomplices are still at large. Police are following up on leads with regards to whereabouts of the two suspects.”
In another development, a 22-year-old suspect appeared in the same court, also facing charges of murder. The accused, Nhlanhla Dhlomu, allegedly stabbed a 28-year-old male victim following an argument during an "After Tears" party in extension 2 on Saturday evening 13 November 2021.
“The victim died at OR Tambo clinic soon after being admitted,” Captain Mathebula said. “Community members assaulted the suspect and he was rushed to hospital for medical treatment. He has since been arrested and charged with murder. “
Both suspects have been remanded in custody and will soon appear in the same Court for bail application, which the police say they are going to oppose given the seriousness of these crimes.
