Netball youngsters considered for development
KHULA Lets Grow Together (LGT) visited Fandis informal settlement in Lion Park and donated training shoes to Lioness Netball Club on 26 June 2021.
The aim is to give back to the community and support the youth, said Khula LGT vice person Zandile Moagi.
“Khula cares about welfare and health of the kids and community at large.,” Moagi said. “The condition of the field is not conducive to play any type of sport due to a dumping site next to it. The dumping site put their health at risk and stopped them from pursuing their dreams. We appeal to Sponsors to assist with funding so that we can further assist these kids with essential needs and make their dream a reality.”
Moagi thanked JUST SHOES of Cosmo Mall for sponsoring them with the shoes.
During the day of the visit Sports coach and director of Fundamental Developments Jernade Kok joined Khula LGT to assess the netball field.
The aim of the netball club is to keep the children off the streets and maintain their physical fitness, said Lioness Netball Club founder Samu Sithole. “In our society kids are being used for drugs, “she said. “Some are being kidnapped and do a lot of other bad things. Seeing that as a parent really affected me and that’s why I gathered them together to help them.”
KHULA LGT is a non-profit Community Youth Development Organization that was founded in July 2020 by Hlengiwe Ntamane. Its mission is to provide welfare and humanitarian assistance to empower teenagers.
