Small Business Expo
Friday the 31st of August 2017, marked the beginning of the 3 day small business expo at the TicketPro Dome in Northgate. It was held to launch a new highlight, dedicated women in business workshop area, which was sponsored by Standard Bank.
Standard Bank, has been a long and active supporter of women’s entrepreneurship initiatives such as the Top Women Awards, the women in Tech Accelerator programes and the Lioness of Africa Conference, the expo presented 3 days of panel discussions and information sessions aimed at enabling women in business.
Among the highlights, on the Agenda were panel discussions and talks featuring singer-songwriter Yvonne ‘’Chaka Chaka’’ Mhinga who is ranked among the Most Powerful Africans and top 100 most influential women in the world; renowned singer Sibongile Khumalo ; influencial business person and Advocate Brenda Madumise; Lindy Mataboge of the Wits business school centre for entrepreneurship and Marang Marekime , founder of business in theory among others.
Some of the Small businesses at the expo were create a book, who create personlised story books for children, Lamo Solar, who work with solar energy, Bold Pearl, who cater for all events from weddings to cocktail parties, Pranav Jaggan Attorneys, who deal with civil litigation, labour and tax law matters, The Investment House, which deals with helping small business entrepreneurs get started and All Bags, which is an online store that sells handbags and wallets to name a few.
The talks covered key topics such African women in business, women and social entrepreneurship, leadership for women, reinventing your businesses in business effective selling strategies, networking to increase net worth and turning ideas into profit, which were all aimed at equipping women with the tools they need to achieve their next in business.
The Women in business workshops ran throughout the 3 days of the Expo, alongside other development workshops including the Development Den, Dear Businessman workshops, Eskom Powering Your World Indaba, Money Matters Theatre presented by Nedbank and the business theatre and the Buy a Business workshop.
The Small Business Expo held alongside the Buy a Business Expo is devoted to the development of small and medium sized enterprises, providing an invaluable platform for small businesses to market their businesses and interact with prominent business leaders and representatives from a number of corporate companies.it is the ideal platform to stimulate business growth and motivate both current and aspiring entrepreneurs.
